In recognition of her passion, commitment and massive  contribution to empowerment and education of girls as well as developing an innovative empowerment model to end violence and poverty amongst women and girls, Muzvare Betty Makoni has to date received  a total of 44  awards, three of which came from her country of birth Zimbabwe and the rest from around the globe. She also has several  Honors, Special Mentions, Acknowledgements and Medals as well as  Accolades from high profile and grassroots organisations and individuals. Muzvare Betty Makoni (44)  is a multi global award winner with 50 global awards for her lifetime of voluntary service, commitment and passion for girls empowerment. She is the most awarded woman world over for commitment to empowering marginalised girls and transforming their lives from perceived victims into leaders. She is one of  the first Zimbabwean and in most cases African woman to receive prestigious awards from CNN, Ginetta Segan Award, Ashoka, Zimbabwe Institute of Management, Afrikan Goddess Award, World Children`s Prize along President Nelson Mandela and Graca Machel, Women and Film in USA and many other big international organisations. Muzvare Betty Makoni (BA Gen, BA Special Hons) is Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Girl Child Network Worldwide. Muzvare(Her Royal Highness Fourth Generation of women of the Royal Family of Makoni in Manicaland in Zimbabwe. Officially conferred with title on 1 June 2001. Recently she was selected to be in the team of UK experts for Preventing Sexual Violence Initiative for FCO as a gender based violence expert. In her many high profile titles, millions across the world passionately call her CNN Hero as she was the top in 2009 category for Protecting the Powerless and was honoured by UNIFEM Goodwill Ambassador Nicole Kidman. Betty Makoni has over 40 global awards including Decade Child Rights Hero Alongside President Nelson Mandela, Ashoka Fellow as part of Global Network of social innovators who have changed lives in their communities and beyond.

In 1998 Muzvare Betty Makoni formed Girl Child Network in Zimbabwe. Today many girls networks are all over the world and she works to share the Girl Child Empowerment Model she developed in Zimbabwe with girls in situations where they need to mobilise and organise themselves for self-empowerment -whether formally or informally affiliated to Girl Child Network Worldwide.

She was also given the biggest treasure Gomo ReMhanda where the fiercest battle between Makoni and Mutasa was fought. This is symbolic of her peace and love of her people. Muzvare`s first award as a true modern working and African humanitarian Princess was given by her own people and true to the word she has lived up to the legacy of rebuilding a girls empowerment centre.
