The Voice Achievers Award is established in the Netherlands as project of The Voice magazine to recognize Africans and friends of Africa of outstanding achievement on a yearly basis. Since 2012, the award took a global outlook recognizing people outside of the Netherlands

The Voice Magazine is the First and the biggest African news Magazine published in The Netherlands. It was established in August 1999 to provide a voice for the African communities in The Netherlands and African people in the Diaspora at large. We have in every sense of commitment, engaged in this noble course over the years.
Over these years, we rose to a professional and moral call to unveil Africa to Europe and the rest of the world from the perspective of the African people. Being the first formal African News Magazine published in the Benelux region of Europe, we have reviewed the tremendous development and growth within Africa over the period.
The Editorial Board of the Magazine constituted an Award Committee that would under strict but objective appraisal; nominate distinguished Africans and friends of Africa, worthy of appreciation and Honour at every forthcoming “The Voice Achievers Award” in the Netherlands.

It is intended that this Award ceremony will be annual to encourage Africans and friends of Africa in various fields of human endeavours to do more and attain an outstanding status. We are in no way saying these people we have chosen are the best but they do have outstanding qualities that we are proud to present to the world.
“The Voice Achievers Award’ is programmed to be a spectacular media and mentoring event. The award is designed to serve to mentor people to aspire for excellence in all facets of human activities. It is a mixture of young and older minds being rewarded on the same platform.
This Award is unique because it offers not only recognition per excellence to the winners but also create an opportunity to meet other professionals and entrepreneurs from other communities in an interactive atmosphere to exchange new ideas.

We recognize governments, institutions, entrepreneurs as well as charities, social enterprises and those businesses that are making proven positive social or economic impact on Africans or a particular country in this contest.

Muzvare Betty Makoni on Top 12 AfroNews List African Carribean Women in UK

This year, for the first time, The AfroNews has compiled a list of remarkable Black women in the UK who have made a great difference in different sectors.

While of most of them are social activists leading the fight for human rights, fight against racism and other forms of discrimination, others are doing brilliant work in the charity and voluntary work sector. At the same time, others are a source of inspiration in entertainment and sports, etc.

We know that there are many other outstanding Black women in the UK who deserved being included in this list. In fact our team found it very hard to come up with this list because of hundreds of exceptional candidates we had at the beginning.

We would therefore encourage those who have not made it this time to continue doing good since we will be observing their achievements while preparing the next list of Top 12 African & Caribbean Women of the Year in UK.

“As a newspaper committed to promoting the positive image of members of the Black Community in the UK, we find it right to celebrate these women who have excelled in different fields. This is our way of encouraging and thanking them for their good work, while at the same time challenging others to follow their footsteps,” said Stephen Ogongo Ongong’a, Editor of The AfroNews.

Esse A Agasse is not a stranger to many Nigerians not only because of her music but because of what her life has become to many and just recently moving proactively to launch a prestigious award where her organisation brings together champions of those supporting girls education worldwide and honouring their commitment, hard work and dedication to girls who would otherwise failed to secure their future due to lack of education.

Dr Ngozi OlejemeA dinner gala on 13 July, at the Women of Love Seminar/Fundraiser took  place at The Ambassador Hotel with high profile guests ranging from high profile female politicians to members of the royal African families as well as mostly female leaders from the African communities across Europe. It turned out to be a seminar of thinkers, strategists and activists who feel something should be done to support girls education especially in Africa where most girls have dropped out of school due to harmful cultural practices, poverty, disease, gender based violence and war. If ever there is a high profile who sat around a table and like a small self-made UN for women this seminar  came up with action plans at individual and organisational level.
